Restoration — Oberlin, OH
Gervy Barn
Renewed for Everyday Use
This classic gambrel barn sits on open ground outside Oberlin. The structure had good bones but needed a true reset to keep working for the farm.
A Foundation for Longevity
The restoration began with foundation stabilization, squaring and leveling the frame. A standing seam metal roof was installed, and the cupola was refreshed with windows and a weathervane.
New windows bring balanced daylight down both elevations. Board-and-batten siding in a deep red protects the walls and reads well from a distance, while white trim sharpens the openings and corners.
Practical Updates, Lasting Strength
Ground-level features include wide overhead doors, a centered service door, an attached wing for equipment storage, and sliding barn doors. Gravel aprons and proper grading manage water drainage.
Nothing here is flashy. The goal was to respect a working barn, extend its life, and make it easier to use.
