Barn Conversion
For this project, the client sought to renovate an existing barn on his property to create a one-of-a-kind living space. The structure dates to the early 1900s and was constructed from red oak using sawn timbers.
Barn Modifications
The century-old building required extensive repairs. We expanded the original footprint using vintage timbers, replaced water-damaged posts, added new pier supports, and relocated the loft.
A new foundation was installed to account for the sandy soil, and the uneven hip roof demanded specialized engineering.
Custom Features
Custom additions include in-floor heat, a side chase for air ducts and a hay rail used to hide the wires for the kitchen pendulum lights.
Hemlock siding was stained for a weathered appearance, and closed-cell foam insulation was applied throughout.
